New "Talking Action" Video: Echoing Climate Week's Call for Urgent Action

Posted byKim Lundgren on Oct 1, 2024 11:16:33 AM

At KLA we're on a mission to elevate local climate action to match the urgency of the climate crisis. For us, the last few days have only sharpened that focus.

We're coming off Climate Week in NYC, under the banner of "It's Time." We could not agree more and echo what we heard in the opening remarks: "It’s Time to think about the crucial decisions and action we need to start taking right now."

Hurricane Helene and other storms then underscored that urgency with a path of destruction across the South, devastating mountain communities in Western North Carolina hundreds of miles from any coast. No place is immune to extreme weather exacerbated by climate change.

As our thoughts are with those communities impacted (and here's a list of ways to help those in NC), we're also helping several clients with events for National Drive Electric Week which is an important outreach opportunity for one of the top climate solutions. Choosing an EV for your next car -- just like electrifying your home, switching to a heat pump, or adding solar to your roof -- is a critical decision that we need way more people to make.

In our latest "Talking Action" video, CEO Kim Lundgren and Director of Climate Analysis Mike Steinhoff break down the importance of zeroing in on high impact actions like EVs and how to use the climate action planning process to set you up for success -- or forgoing a plan to run a targeted marketing and outreach campaign that drives immediate action.

Watch the video and then dive a little deeper with some tips we shared at Earth Day for prioritizing urgent climate action

From extreme heat this summer to devastating floods and storms right now, we're facing a pretty harsh reality. That's why we work with client to focus their limited resources on moving quickly to implement the high impact strategies that will truly reduce emissions and enhance resilience. Without that laser focus, action is delayed or watered down or both and we can't afford either.
