Kim Lundgren

Kim has spent the last 15 years designing, securing funding for, and implementing sustainability programs focused on climate change adaptation and mitigation. As one of the early municipal sustainability pioneers, Kim developed the first climate action plan in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and one of the first municipal adaptation plans in the country. Her emphasis on continuous improvement and innovation has helped local governments across the country get closer to achieving their sustainability goals.

SE Florida Climate Summit: Time to Act

I wrapped up my 2017 travel at the 9th Annual Southeast Florida Regional Climate Leadership Summit. This event continues to grow and inspire with nearly 600 attendees this year! The Summit actually sold out this year and they worked with the Broward County Convention Center to adjust room layouts so they could accommodate extra people, allowing an additional 40 people to attend.

To this day one of the best taglines I’ve seen is “Local Action Moves the World.” That’s from ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability where I was the US Services Director from 2005-2009 and had the pleasure of working with hundreds of local governments across the nation. That line reflects the reality on the ground for a myriad of issues where progress is stymied at the national and international levels. None more so than climate change.

Why Bonn Matters in Your Community: International Climate Policy, Local Governments and the COP
