Kim Lundgren Associates, Inc. (KLA) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Operations to lead our Finance & Operations Team. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our services and products are delivered efficiently, align with our values, and drive profitability.
The Director of Operations will oversee all finance-related tasks, human resources, IT, and the operational aspects of client delivery and customer success. The successful candidate will have at least 10 years’ experience in operations, including time in a leadership role, overseeing staff and contractors, building new or enhancing existing systems, and ideally within a consulting/A&E firm. This position will be responsible for streamlining the delivery of and payment for KLA services and products through effective and integrated systems, processes, and tools.

Key Responsibilities
Executive Strategy Support:
- Lead regular strategy sessions with the CEO to determine growth and associated
- Design and oversee implementation of business systems and goals in line with executive strategy.
- Set and develop a reporting mechanism for Weekly, Monthly & Quarterly Goals for the company based on discussions with the CEO around vision and overarching
- Ensure proper legal & financial systems are in place to support growth and protection of the company.
Finance:
- Collaborate with Project Managers (PMs) to ensure systems and processes are in place for the timely and accurate approval of time, expenses, and
- Identify and mitigate potential budget
- Oversee the development of and report to CEO on financial
- Act as a liaison between KLA staff and outsourced bookkeeper/controller.
- Lead the creation of the annual budget with the CEO and Leadership
- Establish a process to review and update bill rates, profit margins, and billability targets to achieve financial goals.
- Coordinate with CPA on tax preparation, submission, and
Customer Success - Operations:
- Manage systems integration and optimization to support the Customer Success
- Ensure efficient, profitable, and value-aligned delivery of services and
Human Resources:
- Ensure effective recruiting, onboarding, development, performance management, and retention practices are in place.
- Establish policies, systems, and frameworks that build and promote company culture and
- Track HR-related KPIs and refine/update Standard Operating
IT:
- Ensure software and tools are integrated and provide necessary data for streamlined operations and KPI reporting.
- Oversee the outsourced IT partner in setting up new laptops, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining cybersecurity compliance.
Qualifications
- 10 years of experience in operations and/or finance, with at least 4 years in a leadership role overseeing staff and contractors.
- Experience building new teams and setting up or enhancing processes and
- At least 3 years of experience in a consulting firm with no fewer than 15 people, preferably working with government clients (e.g., engineering firm).
- Extensive knowledge of project management, time keeping, invoicing, and other essential software tools utilized by consulting firms.
- Strong financial acumen and experience with budget management and financial
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational
- Ability to work remotely and manage a remote team

- Preference will be given to candidates in the Boston, MA area.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base Salary: $125,000- $150,000 (commensurate with experience)
- Performance-Based Bonuses/Commissions: Up to 30% of the base salary, based on achieving specific performance metrics.
